Be careful!
This is the rear of the restaurant.
I saw someone (a customer) falling down from 1.6mtr height. Straight on to the floor
(there are no railings)
It could have been worst but escape with minor injuries but sure he had some bed rest and
medications.

Utorda: D Silva’s unique Fish Curry Rice Thali
What so unique about it?
Well, usually restaurants serve ‘Rechad Bangdda’
(stuffed Mackerel) separately each costing around Rs.45- 70.
But at this restaurant the whole ‘Rechad Bangddo’ is a part
of ‘Fish Curry Rice Thali’ for which you pay just Rs.40
(includes Fish/Mackerel Curry, salad, Veggies and pickle).

There might be a delay.. but well worth it.
After all, you get ‘Bangddo’ straight from the frying pan.

 
 
It’s a medium sized Bangddo
(not too small nor too big, may appear small in the pic)


A tip to first time visitors:
From anywhere on Utorda road
Just ask ‘Hoddeaguer’ Restaurant (‘Hoddo’ means bald)
It’s in between Arossim Bandar & Utorda Mollar

I simply love it
Mouthwatering

Extra or special Rechad Bangdda cost Rs,25 each

We were 3
Ordered 4 FCRTs
half bot RS, 4 Sodas, 1 Water Bot & 2 pkts of roasted nuts
The bill was Rs. 310

1/2 RS, 4 Soda, 1 water, French fries, 1 each of PBS, CCF, KFCR and 2 MFR = Rs.710
There is also Anoshka Restaurant at Margao (NEar BPS Club), Miramar (around Babush Bungalow)
We also had Pork BindaSol and Chicken Chilly Fry, pic available at
non-veg section.

Hotel Avanti – Restaurant
Rua de Ourem, Panjim Goa
(Near Old Patto Bridge)

Until early 90’s, I was a regular here (not daily but say weekly)
Looks like Avanti existed since 1973, so says the boad.

This road was the only road for us (via Calapur, 4 pilars)
as there was no Panjim-Bambolim bypass road then.

My favourite here was Pork Vindaloo, Chicken Leg, beef steak, Sausages etc
The restaurant was then downstairs, upstairs being hotel/Lodge.

On the Rua de Ourem road (see pic), we used to wait for our usual crowded buses to go home (agxi).
But I often used share-a-taxi who charged us Rs. 5 per head as against Re.1 by bus.

I must have visited AVANTI restaurant say after 20 years.

Actually I wanted to go for Prawn curry rice which was Rs.125 but then I changed my mind when I was told I will have to shell out additional Rs.45 for plain rice making it Rs.170,
I then opted for its regular fish curry rice Rs. 125 with no big fish but korbott / Papad etc (see pic)

We were 3

2 KF beer bottles – 160
2 French fries or Patato finger chips Rs.150 – see pic
2 Chicken biryani Rs.250 – see pic
2 Pork Vindaloo Rs.350 – see pic
1 Fish curry rice (for me) Rs. 125 see pic
2 water bots Rs.40
4 loaves of bread (Poder pao) Rs. 20

Have you been to Texas (Restaurant)?

I did get an email about this restaurant last year but never had a chance to visit there.
Few days ago, we made it..

What we ate and what it cost us?

2 Mixed Fried Rice Rs.340
1 Squid Chilli Fry Rs. 180
1 Chicken Haryali Kabab Rs. 190
1 French Fries Rs.60
1 plate Roasted Papad 2pcs Rs.15
1 plate Tiger Prawns (6 pcs) Rs.480
2 Garlic naan Rs.90
Parcel Charges Rs. 5 (to pack leftover fried rice)
Total: Rs. 1500
Plus Rs.50 tips

Price and Quantity wise, the only item I found value for money is French Fries

Most expensive being the prawns Rs.80 each

the entrance to the restaurant is through the hotel reception, which may put some of you off.
But the Restaurant interior is good though
There is also Gym Club to the left of the first floor, which can be seen on the way to restaurant
